During her all-too-short time on this Earth, Noble Fur accompanied me on five cross-country journeys between my home in Georgia and my summer jobs in the Northwest. In 2018, the route home included a stop at the Old West town of Nevada City, Montana. The pics in this diary were taken October 16, 2018, the day before the visit to Grand Teton featured in the diary two weeks ago.
I had wanted to take the trip through Yellowstone and the Tetons in previous years, but snow at high elevations caused me to take safer routes.
Nevada City is a frontier town with old buildings that are maintained as a tourist attraction. In the High Country of the west, many attractions close for the season in October. Such was the case with Nevada City, but people (and their cats) were free to roam outside the buildings.
There was a bit of snow on the north side of the rail station. Noble Fur only saw snow a few times.
Most of the pictures were taken around the rail museum. Let’s take a cat’s-eye view of the surroundings.
Here is a link to another railroad-themed diary featuring Noble Fur, posted in 2020. You’ll recognize the final picture in that diary.

Finally, since videos seem to be popular, here is a short clip taken in my back yard in the pre-leash days. Noble Fur was always eager to greet me, and she’d race at top speed to say hello.
